Thursday 27th September – bike **** Around Felixstowe. Sunny and warm.

What a lovely week we have had in Felixstowe, wall to wall sunshine and warm too, lots of relaxing mainly at home, I managed to change my worn bike tyres for spanky new ones and clean both the bikes, haven’t looked that clean since new:) With hopefully some wind tomorrow it seemed like a good day to try the bikes out, so Mag packed a salad and we headed off along the roads to Landguard Nature Reserve, checked the bird sighting notice board, loads there including a Parakeet:) We ended up sitting on the old pier on the entrance to Felixstowe docks at high water but the tide had turned and it was whizzing out. A great spot for lunch with lots of boat action from yachts and fishing boats to big container ships and ferries! We even managed to read a chapter of our books before completely demolishing a whole bag of liquorice all sorts before heading back along the prom. Mag turned for home at Convalescent Hill but as the sky was amazing, deep blue with wispy white clouds I continued all the way to The Ferry taking pics en-route:) I stopped and had a word with Mark Swain at the sailing club taking his sons cat ready for the weekends racing at Brightlingsea before I carried on home via the lovely Grove. The forecast is holding for some windsurfing tomorrow but it is looking northerly so it might be a trip to the River Stour at Bradfield. I was out 3hrs. 15 mins., covering 12.42 miles with a top speed of 19.53 knots.
